In a serene but colorful ceremony thronged with an estimated crowd of 1 million in front of the Washington capital president Barack Obama was sworn in to the most powerful office on earth.
A little hesitant at first the son of a Kenyan father and Kansas woman was sworn in amid tight security and millions watching from the steps of the capital and from televisions from around the world. Kenya and the rural town of Kogelo in rural Kenya watched the proceedings beemed in live by large outdoor televisions and the mood was ecstatic.
President Obamas speech was both a call to action for Americans with responsibility and accountability for his govermanet that finds itself amid the worst financial crisis since the depression.Kenyans around the world followed the proceddings by blogging and watched the proceedings from their homes and public places with some opting to travel to DC.
Tonight there will be an official Obama ball hosted by the Kenyan community in Washington DC to be attended by top government officials and dignitaries with entrtainment by the Boys choir of Kenya.
